PEACH NEWS: January

HAPPY NEW YEAR – WELCOME TO 2026

As this is the first newsletter of the year, we wanted to take a moment to share some of our goals for the year ahead.

At the end of 2025, we sent out feedback and review forms, and the responses have been really encouraging. We’re incredibly grateful for all of the support we had last year and look forward to another year of working alongside our wonderful clients whilst continuing to provide the best care we can.

This year, we have exciting plans to support and work alongside local charities whose work truly inspires us, including Harry’s Rainbow, which supports bereaved children, and Willen Hospice, an independent hospice supporting adults with life-limiting illnesses.

We’ll be hosting fundraising events throughout the year, so please keep an eye out for ways to get involved and support us with this goal.

From next month, wellalso introduce a monthly Carer’s Connect coffee morning, creating space for our team to share experiences and support one another. This year we want to focus on connection and team building. The first coffee morning will take place on Wednesday, 18 February 2025.

We have exciting plans to start an adult activity/entertainment session. The session will take place each Friday at our activity centre and will comprise games, music, and refreshments. We want to create something enjoyable for our adult community. More details to follow.

Finally, we will continue our journey towards registering our activities centre and a new children’s home in Kettering with Ofsted, aiming to complete the process and open our doors later this year.

The Nose-lympics are coming!!

This year, Peach Staff will be going head to head, or should I say nose to nose, in a Peach’s BIG RED Nose-lympics – this is a highstakes, high-laughter, and highly ridiculous competition.

The event will be filled with red-themed challenges, and the chance to become the winner of the GOLDEN NOSE!!

Let’s get together, get silly, and raise some money!

Weather Warning

With winter in our midst, I want to encourage all our staff, clients, and community to take extra care to stay warm and safe. As we get older, our bodies find it harder to adjust to temperature changesespecially for those living with ill health or mobility issues.

Be mindful, take care of yourselves and look out for those around you!

Please join us in congratulating Oluwatoyin on passing her driving test.

Hard work and determination pays off. We are very proud of you.

WELL DONE TOYIN!

HELPFUL TIPS

Break tasks into small steps…

Some tasks, chores and even certain play experiences can feel daunting to children with special educational needs (SEN)

We do not want to overwhelm the child. We want to support them, to give them time.

Breaking tasks into small, manageable steps is a simple, yet useful tool to reduce anxiety around larger tasks.

NAVIGATING THE NEW YEAR

by Ann Collins

As January begins, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication and compassion you provide to our clients every day. Supporting children and adults is invaluable work, but your commitment often means putting the needs of others before your own.

With the new year ahead, it is a critical time to focus on an essential topic: your own wellbeing.

Caring for others can be demanding, both physically and emotionally. It’s easy to run on empty, but this is neither sustainable nor fair to you. To be the best carers you can be for the children and adults we support, you must ensure your own cup is full. This isn’t a luxury; it’s a professional necessity.

This month, I urge you to make a conscious commitment to one small act of self- care per day. This could be a dedicated 15- minute break without thinking about care responsibilities, going for a short walk, practicing deep breathing exercises, or simply reaching out to a fellow carer for a quick chat and mutual support.

To further support you, we are launching a monthly “Carer Connect” coffee morning. This will be a dedicated space for peer support and shared experiences. Our first event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18th; please drop in if you can. Further information will follow.

Remember, our door is always open. If you are feeling overwhelmed, please speak to any member of the management team. We have resources available to help you and together we can ensure you receive the support you need to thrive, not just survive.

Thank you for your extraordinary efforts. Wishing you a healthy and resilient start to 2026.

HEALTH AND WELL BEING CORNER...

“New year, new me” is a phrase we hear people say a lot heading into the New Year. It often encourages us to set goals and think about what we’d like to change or improve.

While fresh starts can be motivating, it’s also important to recognise what worked well, to take a moment to reflect on the things we did right last year.

Progress doesn’t always mean change. Sometimes it means carrying forward the habits, strengths, or small wins that helped us feel our best. To focus on and recognise all the things we achieved and the things that made us proud.

What’s one positive thing from last year you’d like to take with you into this year?
