SME National Business Awards
This month has been exceptionally busy here at Peach. Elvis, a finalist, attended the SME Business Award National ceremony in London, accompanied by the management team. The event, held at the Queen Elizabeth Centre, brought together business owners from across the country to celebrate the UK’s businesses.

New Registered Manager
We are pleased to announce that our Care Manager, Ann Collins (RGN), has successfully completed the Care Quality Commission (CQC) manager registration process. Ann is now a CQC-registered manager with Peach Care and will be responsible for the Milton Keynes and Buckingham areas. Please join us in congratulating Ann!

STAFF OF THE MONTH

Our Staff Member of the Month is Florence Twum.

Florence is a highly dependable, diligent, and consistently punctual staff member who demonstrates excellent teamwork. Although naturally calm, a client recently selected her as a favourite support worker, praising her engagement and enthusiasm while playing a board game with their son: “She was so engaged in the game that she enthusiastically cheered when she won. This is the atmosphere we encourage other carers to create.”

SANTA ALERT!

Ho, ho, hold onto your sleigh bells! This Christmas, for the very first time, we’re thrilled to welcome the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus, to the Peach Care Activities Centre! Our VIP guest will be here to spread cheer and meet our little ones. Snap a festive photo with your kiddos at our merry photo corner. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, the 23rd, from 1 PM to 4 PM, and get ready for some holiday magic!

Dust off your jingle bells and prepare for a holiday hootenanny! Peach Care’s annual Jingle Bell Feast is ringing in the cheer on Tuesday, 12 December, at The Three Trees in Bletchley.

It will be an evening of mouthwatering munchies, fabulous folks, and enough festive spirit to make Santa blush! Let’s toast to an incredible year together!

Elvis’ November Game Night at the Peach Care Activities Centre on Saturday, 29th of November 2025.

The evening aims to create a relaxed atmosphere for colleagues to discuss men’s health and raise money for a chosen charity.

The evening will feature two hours of engagement, including games like pool and table tennis, and a light-hearted discussion on the topic of Men’s Health.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY...

“Just a very quick email to say that Martha and Florence yesterday and today have been doing amazingly, the change is massive. I could hear A laughing, and engaging with the carers, there was a lot of communication happening with her all the time”

HELPFUL TIPS

EFFECTIVE SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGE

  1. Listen Without Judgement

  2. Communicate Effectively

  3. Offer Practical Help

  4. Take Care of Yourself

If someone is in immediate crisis or expressing suicidal thoughts, do not leave them alone. Get immediate help by calling emergency services or a local crisis line.

ESSENTIAL POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN WRITING CARE NOTES

by Ann Collins

It is crucial to maintain clear, concise, and factual notes. Remember: If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen. High-quality documentation is vital for service users, your colleagues, and professional accountability.

Clarity and Conciseness: Notes must be easy to read and understand. Avoid jargon or slang. Get straight to the point.

Factual Reporting: Only record what you observe, what was said, or what action was taken. Do not include personal opinions, assumptions, or judgements.

Accuracy: Ensure all details are correct, including times, dates, and names of individuals involved.

Timeliness: Document actions and observations as soon as possible after they occur to ensure accuracy and prevent omissions.

Record All Care: Document every piece of care, support, medication administration, or interaction that occurs. This creates a complete and legally sound record of the care provided.

Communication Tool: Clear notes ensure effective communication and a seamless handover to colleagues on the next shift. They rely on your documentation to understand the service user’s status and ongoing needs.

Accountability and Protection: Accurate records protect you, the service user, and the organisation. They serve as evidence of professional practice if questions or concerns are ever raised.

Record Changes: Immediately document any significant changes in a service user’s condition (physical, mental, or emotional) and the action taken (e.g., calling a doctor or family).

HEALTH AND WELL BEING CORNER...

This month, our focus is on men’s health.

Men, it’s time to shift from a ‘fix-it-when-it-breaks’ mindset to a maintenance approach for your health. Research shows men die younger than women, often from preventable causes. The good news? Small, consistent changes can make a massive difference. Here are the keys to a healthier, happier you.

MASTER YOUR MENTAL FITNESS

Your mental fitness is just as important as your physical fitness. Don’t wait until you’re struggling to take action.
Connect and Communicate: Talk more. Stay connected with friends and family. Social interaction is crucial for mental resilience. If something is bothering you, share it with someone you trust—a friend, family member, or doctor.

Practice Mindfulness: Try simple techniques like the 4-5-8 breathing method (breathe in for 4, hold for 5, breathe out for 8) to reduce stress hormones and calm your mind.

Engage in Hobbies: Set aside time for activities you genuinely enjoy. A sense of purpose and accomplishment boosts your mood and cognitive skills.

Reduce Unhealthy Habits: Be mindful of your alcohol and tobacco consumption. Excessive drinking is linked to health issues and can worsen sleep and mood. Quitting smoking is one of the single best things you can do for your long-term health.
